Aside from creating music for film and television projects, being part of acclaimed house music duo JeanGa and George and partnering with old friend Susumu Mukai as part of Becker & Mukai, Jean-Gabriel uses his Lux Prima persona to create a sound that exists right on an edge between chaos and order, in this state of disorientation where harmony and dissonance meet.

Lux Prima carefully constructs his music in his East London underground studio, surrounded by his beloved tools and instruments. These are his friends, they are far from unique, almost mundane: Digital delays, vintage analog synths, samplers and anything from the physical realm that would produce a sound.

The uniqueness in Lux Prima's sound comes from what happens next: Drawing influences from Detroit techno, 90s British electronica and music from around the World, he sometimes lets the sounds speak forthemselves, in their simple and poignant beauty, and some other times, he manipulates, distorts, processes to create a singular and otherworldly universe.

Between the realms of careful programming and the unpredictability of live recording, abstract sonic palettes clash with conflicting time signatures in a kaleidoscopic explosion of sounds: Lux Prima‘s work can be at times disorientating and anarchic, and at times warm and captivating, but always rewarding.
